Casa Bella Lambrusco Rosso Dolce

Image
The Casa Bella Lambusco Rosso Dolce is a northern Italian wine made in the region of Emilia-Romagna in the year of 2021. The grape is lambrusco grapes, and it costed around 8 dollars. According to a review on Vivino, the wine has a "blueberry, cranberry" taste to it. My own experience with the wine was that it smelled like raspberry, blackberry and had some acidity like green apple. When I tasted it, since it was a sparkling red wine, it has poppy and had a raspberry and lemon-ish taste to it. I had it with hotpot, and I did not think it added and in my opinion kind of detracted the taste. The hotpot had sort of masked some of the taste so I could not get a completely accurate tasting.

Schlink Haus Dornfelder Red Wine

Image
This is the Schlink Haus Dornfelder Red Wine made in 2021, in Nahe River Valley, Germany. The red wine is a varietal wine with no specific percentages labeled onto the label and was bought for around 10 dollars. According to the Schlink Haus website about the wine, it is 100% dornfelder and is described as "delightfully light", "flavors of bright cherries, blackberries, and strawberries", and "it offers a light and elegant finish."  My experience with the wine was that it smelled like both apple and blackberries with a taste of honey, blackberry, and cranberries. At the time I did not have it with any foods, but I suspect it would have not really added to the food itself.

Moscato d'Asti Rinaldi

Image
The Moscato d'Asti Rinaldi, made in Ricaldone Italy in 2021. I bought this with some friends for 24 dollars, and according to the site RinaldiVinni, it is supposed to taste like peach, mango, and have some floral tones.  So my first impression of the Moscato was that it smelled very sweet, like honey and somewhat lime as well. When I actually tasted the wine, it tasted very bubbly and honey-like. When I had the Moscato with hotpot, I didn't think it enhanced the experience for either the wine or the hotpot.

Washington Hills 2021 Late Harvest Riesling

Image
This is a 2021 Late Harvest Riesling by the Washington Hills; it was made and bottled in Walla Walla Washington State in the USA. I bought the wine for around 11 dollars and according to the site EmpireWine, the Riesling tasted like "sweet lime" with "lingering nectarine" after taste. My own review of the wine is that it had a tree fruit kind of smell, like cooked apples, and it overall had a honey like smell to it. I had a Riesling before, so I was quite excited to try another and compare the tastes between the two. So, when I took the sip, the wine tasted sweeter than the previous Riesling, and didn't have that leathery aftertaste that I mentioned in the previous Reisling. This Riesling tasted like pear and honey with some acidity behind it. Although I had the wine with some hotpot, I didn't think the wine subtracted or added my experience.

Heinz Eifel Riesling Auslese

Image
Here is the Heinz Eifel Riesling Auslese that I got from the Vintage Cellar! It was made in 2019, within the Mosel Valley in Germany and was around 18 dollars give or take a dollar. The wine was pretty sweet, with a general lime and honey taste to it. Although it also strangely had a leathery taste to it as well that I did find somewhat interesting. I had the Riesling with hotpot and thought it was good to try again. It definitely could have gone well on its own in my overall opinion. From the reviews online, I found that people did not like it as much as I did from drizly.

Jip Jip Rock Shiraz

Image
Smelled like blackberries and some kind of spicy tone (some more experience in wine will be needed to get a better pinpoint). If I had to guess, it was probably liquorice? From the site, timeless wine, it seemed to agree with my main smells and tasting description, adding that it had an oak tannin with cloves as well as other flavors as well. It was made in 2019, Padthaway Austrailia, price around 12 dollars with the description reading,  The Jip Jip Rocks are a striking outcrop of 350 million year old pink-red granite, which are sacred in traditional Aboriginal beliefs. Modern winemaking is combined with pristine fruit from the Bryson family's cool climate vineyard. Environmentally sustainable practices, hand pruned, low yielding mature vines, grown on terra rossa soil, ensures this Shiraz has an amazing depth of varietal flavor, style and balance.  Jip Jip Rocks is a good cellaring proposition, however we believe this Shiraz is approachable now, more so when shared with food, fri
